HOLLYWOOD — For once, Miami Heat superstar LeBron James has agreed to be honored at a charity dinner, something he’d done sparingly since he first arrived in 2010.

James usually dispatches wife Savannah to black tie galas.

But he is expected in person at the Reid & Fiorentino Call of the Game gala dinner March 15 at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood.

The dinner, presented by Heat broadcasters Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino is to benefit the anti-child abuse Lauren’s Kids and the Dade Schools Athletic Foundation.

And check this out, SoFla sports geeks: James is to receive the Don Shula Sports Legend Award from the hands of the legendary 84-year-old wheelchair-bound coach himself!

The hostess that night: Actress Gabrielle Union, Dwyane Wade‘s fiancee!

“No question that LeBron, as a true superstar in the NBA and leader of the NBA Champions, is a most deserving recipient of the Don Shula Sports Legend Award,” said Lauren’s Kids leader Lauren Book. “We were pleasantly surprised and grateful when LeBron agreed to accept this award and will allow us to honor him.”
