After walking away from a contract to buy Grease actress Olivia Newton-John‘s house in Jupiter Inlet Colony, TV talker Rosie O’Donnell has finally found her Southern pied-a-terre.
This one on the state’s Left Coast.
Gay rights activist O’Donnell, 51, recently plunked down $5 million for a beachfront mansion on the Gulf of Mexico near Sarasota, on the fancy Casey Key.
According to local reports, O’Donnell, her wife and five children are enjoying their first days in a 4,700-square-foot beauty with four bedrooms and seven bathrooms near one owned by horror writer Stephen King (Carrie, The Shining).
The property at 104 Lighthouse Drive is nearly one acre on a thin tongue of land jutting out into the green waters of the Gulf.
The former host of The View signed a $6 million-contract in the spring to buy Newton-John’s house here but a contractor preparing the Intracoastal mansion committed suicide in a back bedroom a few days before the closing.
Gossip Extra broke the story: Newton-John flew in a Catholic priest and had an exorcism performed in the presence of O’Donnell’s people, but the cleansing could not salvage the deal. It’s still on the market.
O’Donnell is flush with the $12.6 million from the June sale of the house she owned for more than 10 years on Miami Beach’s Star Island.
