WEST PALM BEACH — Ex-WPTV-Channel 5 weatherman Rob Lopicola faces 20 years in prison after he was convicted minutes ago by a jury on charges of lewd and lascivious conduct and computer porn.
The jury discussed the case for less than two hours this afternoon in a West Palm Beach courthouse before convicting the former TV personality.
Earlier today, Lopicola testified in his own defense and claimed there was no sex with the boys — just sexual fantasies.
The jury acquitted Lopicola, 43, of lewd and lascivious battery.
It’s a stunning epilogue to a case that started more than a year ago with Lopicola’s arrest on suspicion that he had sex with two area boys who, at the time, were 15 and 17.
Sentencing is scheduled for mid-December.
