MIAMI — Sexy Brazilian carnival dancers in full regalia welcomed more than 800 guests to the Diamond Ball, one of Miami’s fanciest charity affairs, last night at the JW Marriott Marquis.
The $1,000-a-head shindig, which benefits the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation, also lured a number of celebs in their finest black ties.
Among them, Miami Heater Shane Battier sported last year’s championship ring, something he does on “special occasions,” he said.
“Ray (Allen, another Heat shooter) and I are particularly interested in this because, as a parent, you always want the best care possible for your children,
“My (2 ½ year old) daughter broke her leg last year and we rushed her to MCH. She received world-class care there,”
Among the well-heeled guests: Colombian singer Juanes, Heaters Allen and Mario Chalmers, retired MLB slugger Sammy Sosa, and others . . .
Juanes, the singer of La Camisa Negra, doesn’t seem to know too much English after all his years here. He accepted an award in Spanish!
