NORTH PALM BEACH — A female victim of past sexual abuse seeking treatment for her fear of men is accusing high-profile Palm Beach area shrink Terry Ganaway of trying to bed her while she sought counseling.
The allegations are included in an administrative complaint filed against Ganaway, who runs a practice with his wife Lyn in North Palm Beach and Delray Beach, by the Florida Department of Health.
What’s more, Ganaway is accused of representing himself a licensed psychotherapist when, according to state records, he’s only licensed as a social worker intern — despite his admission on several high-profile boards in the field of gambling and addiction therapy!
And now, state regulators are trying to prevent Ganaway from practicing and want to have him fined, according to the administrative complaint obtained exclusively by Gossip Extra.
A dead ringer for Donald Sutherland in Hunger Games, Ganaway has yet to return a call for comment. Sean Ellsworth, his lawyer, declined comment.
The alleged victim of Ganaway’s advances was only identified in the complaint as “AL.” The only detail about the woman is that she is also a professional hypnotist.
She claims Ganaway kissed her during therapy sessions, including one session in which he kissed her 12 times, and even commented about how sex with him would be “loving, gentle and good for AL.”
Ganaway, AL says, shared a little too much information about himself, including his erectile problems and his plan to leave his wife, according to the complaint.
The case is now working its way through the DOH.
