Chad Johnson walked out of the Broward County jail a free man — sorta!
The former Miami Dolphins receiver was released in mid-afternoon and stepped onto the streets of Fort Lauderdale carrying a neatly folded brown paper bag.
He was flanked by sports agent Drew Rosenhaus and Adam Swickle, the lawyer whose butt he tapped during a hearing a week ago — the incident that landed Johnson behind bars.
The out-of-work ball player briefly talked to reporters, and claimed he loves Kathleen McHugh – the judge who sentenced him on-the-spot to serve 30 days last Monday. She reversed her order today after a week and let him go!
“I had a lot of time to reflect,” Johnson said, “A lot of people have tried to get me to slow down in life.
“Coaches, my agent, my lawyer. And there was one person that was able to do it. And that was the judge. Little does she know, I love her to death. Basically what she’s been is a blessing in disguise.”
Johnson, meanwhile, is set to remain on probation until October, still for his assault on ex-wife and reality TV star Evelyn Lozada.
