flag-breaking-newsMiami police and fire rescue crews are on their way to Bayfront Park downtown Miami to respond to what is being reported on emergency radios as the collapse of a stage during a sound check for tomorrow’s Ultra Music Festival.

Sources said about 8:15 p.m. that there are several injuries. Three people are in ambulances on their way to Jackson Memorial Hospital and several other people are being treated at the scene.

UPDATE: The show will go on

Starting tomorrow, crowds estimated at around 60,000 people per night are expected at the park nightly for the giant DJ festival.

The event, possibly the biggest electronic music festival in the world, takes place over the next two weekend and features DJing’s biggest names, including Afrojack, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and more. Rapper Snoop Dogg will also perform.

Sound checks, which have become popular for fans who don’t want to fight the crowds, started last night on the stages sets up in the waterfront park.

8:45 p.m. UPDATE: The Gossip Extra man at the scene says there could be as many as 20 people injured in tonight’s collapse of a stage at the Ultra Music Festival!

8:56 p.m. UPDATE: A law enforcement source says that two of those injured in tonight’s collapse of a stage at the Ultra Music Festival downtown Miami are in critical condition. What’s more, Miami authorities have notified the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) of the accident. OSHA investigators are expected at the scene within hours.

9:20 p.m. UPDATE: The Miami Herald reports that the accident could have been caused by falling lighting equipment.

10 p.m. UPDATE: Miami Fire Rescue Lt. Ignatius Carroll tells Gossip Extra that a LED video panel about 20 feet long and 8 wide crashed onto the stage. Two workers were crushed, a third was injured by flying debris and a fourth was traumatized. All four were transported to area hospitals. The two who were hit by the LED panel are in critical condition. Carroll said fire marshals, OSHA agents and engineers will inspect the stage tomorrow morning to check for structural damage.

      Pretty sure that’s accurate considering 165k roughly per weekend take 15k. Two weekends roughly 300k people. I’d say that’s the biggest. Hopefully Miami lets both weekends take place since they were contemplating scratching the 2nd in the first place.

        Except EDC vegas has been doing 300k ppl in 1 weekend. This is ultras first double weekend. Beyond that theres bigger events world wide. EDC is just the biggest in the US.

        EDC is 115k per day, 350,000 for a weekend. The only thing ultra is, is an over rated brofest.
