flag-exclusive The taxman is going after The Real Housewives of Miami stalwart Alexia Echevarria and her politically-connected lobbyist husband Herman.

The IRS, according to papers filed with Miami-Dade County, accuses the Echevarrias of scrimping on their income tax payments by a total $90,078.44 for 2009.

The agency has requested that the couple pay up several times, and finally placed a lien on their $1.2 million homestead in Miami Beach. Unless they pay up, the feds will help themselves should the couple sell their home.

The lien came down in May, and has yet to be paid up!

It’s the end of an annus horribilis for the 44-year-old Bravo TV star Alexia, aka The Cuban Barbie.

Earlier this year, her youngest son Frankie Rosello was badly injured in a near-fatal car accident.

In September, someone filmed oldest son Peter Rosello hitting a homeless man in the groin as he slept on a Miami Beach street. Rosello was arrested and charged with felony battery.

Alexia Echevarria has yet to return calls for comment about the IRS lien.

I understand that she’s had a bad year, and perhaps this is the reason for neglecting to pay taxes. The IRS can be quite understanding in these circumstances, as long as the case is submitted correctly, and may waive penalties. However, she really needs to resolve the issue, otherwise the next stage could be enforced collections.
