Refreshed by a surge in the wake of a TV debate botched by President Barack Obama, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his wife Ann were greeted like heroes yesterday in Tradition.
By some accounts, nearly 10,000 supporters packed the Port St. Lucie suburb’s Town Square to welcome Romney on his last day of a three-day Florida campaign swing.
The head-count surprised many observers: Romney was smack dab in the middle of Obama territory! St. Lucie County voted for the prez overwhelmingly in 2008.
“I’ll do everything in my power to draw on the greatness of the American people to make us more united, reach across the aisle and find good Democrats . . . that care deeply about America, just as I do,” Romney said. “I know they’re there!”
Among the dignitaries: U. S. Rep. Allen West, who’s in a dog fight against Democrat Patrick Murphy for the Treasure Coast congressional district; Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi; and Florida CFO Jeff Atwater.
Later, a parched Romney and his entourage stopped by a local restaurant for refreshments.
