Former Miami Dolphins receiver Johnson‘s divorce was finalized this morning in a Broward County court, Gossip Extra has confirmed.
Lozada filed 37 days ago, in the wake of an ugly domestic violence incident!
In all, their marriage lasted 75 days — including the separation.
The baller formerly known as Ochocinco was not in court but his now ex-wife Evelyn Lozada, star of the VH-1 reality show Basketball Wives, was there to witness the magistrate sign off on the decree.
Johnson and Lozada had a lavish, made-for-reality-TV wedding July 4 on the Caribbean island of St. Martin.
But Johnson allegedly head-butted Lozada during an argument over her discovered of a receipt for condoms five weeks later.
Lozada filed for divorce on August 14.
“There was nothing to it,” said Michael Gilden, Lozada’s lawyer. “There was no argument. There was a pre-nupt, and it’ll remain private.”
If problems arise in the future, however, the pre-nupt could be made public.
Did they get preferential treatment from the court system – just over a month for a settlement?
“No,” said Gilden. “It can be done by any member of the public. It didn’t go this fast because they’re celebrities.”
The divorce is just one element in Johnson’s supersonic fall from grace.
He was cut by Fins coach Joe Philbin the day after the Lozada incident, an episode caught on HBO’s Hard Knocks. He also lost several sponsorship deals, and a reality show in which he would’ve starred with Lozada was shelved.
Two weeks ago, Johnson vowed he wouldn’t sign Lozada’s divorce papers and filed his own divorce petition.
