Ex-U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney’s Credit Trouble

In the series Where Are They Now?, here’s a juicy tidbit about former U.S. Congressman Tim Mahoney.

Memba him? Mahoney was elected to the 16th Congressional District (Palm Beach Gardens to Fort Pierce) in the 2008, weeks after Mark Foley resigned because of blue emails he wrote to youg male congressional pages.

And two years later, Mahoney was beaten by Tom Rooney when word of hush money payments to a mistress surfaced.

Now this: Democrat Mahoney’s credit card was declined during peak shopping period at Macy’s Saturday afternoon!

A hawk-eyed spy tells me millionaire Mahoney, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens, held up a line of annoyed, sighing ladies at The Gardens Mall store for nearly 15 minutes because he couldn’t believe his plastic was no good.

“Please try it again,” Mahoney told the clerk.

Jeeez! She did. Nothing doing.

Mahoney, who was buying clothes while wearing Tom Cruise sunglasses, then was reduced to spelling his first and last names out loud because he used another card.

Mahoney, by the way, is still waiting for a year-old DUI case to work its way through the system.

Ah, life as a civilian ain’t easy!
