The move comes a day after Johnson, 34, was arrested at home by Davie Police in connection with a domestic violence incident.
According to the police report, Johnson head-butted new wife Evelyn Lozada, who’s on VH-1′s Basketball Wives, and screamed “I don’t give a f… about my career” as she ran away to a neighbor’s house!
Although team officials have yet to comment on the record, one Dolphins source said Johnson’s locker at camp was just cleaned up.
Gossip Extra first reported this morning that team officials were kicking around the idea of kicking Johnson off even before he was freed from a Broward County slammer on $2,500-bail.
Earlier today, rookie head coach Joe Philbin told the press he had yet to meet with Johnson.
“I wanted just to let you guys know I have not spoken with Chad Johnson yet,” Philbin said. “However, I do plan to meet with him in the relatively near future. Today, I’ve been focused on the football team, the 89 other players that are here today in meetings and practice. At this point and until I speak with Chad directly, it would be premature for me to make any comments about the situation.”
Incidentally, Johnson had become the star of HBO’s Hard Knocks, a series that follows the Dolphins through their pre-season. On Thursday’s premiere, Johnson appeared in shape and poised for a good season. At one point, he jokingly told fellow players he was going to be arrested during the team’s day off.
