They call it Kadooment Day in Barbados, and apparently, the word means “fun and good times.”
Miami Heat center Joel Anthony could add a few qualifiers after he experienced first-hand Monday’s carnival-like event in Bridgetown!
The Heat’s No. 50 – all 6 feet 9 of him — slipped onto the Caribbean island over the weekend. And quickly, he seems to have been caught in the festive atmosphere of Crop Over, the end-of-sugar-cane-harvest feast.
Then things got freaky for the one they call The Warden!
Tourism guidebooks advertise the “pulsating” music that fills the streets on Kadooment Monday for the culmination of the partying. That’s when thousands of locals in flamboyant costumes parade through the city.
There’s greased pole climbing contest, too.
And while Anthony, 30, didn’t participate to the latter, he obviously concentrated on the “jump up,” when spectators who line up the streets get to grind with the pretty parade participants.
Heat officials aren’t commenting!
