Devignez’ dad, a prominent construction company executive based near Brussels, paid 10 percent of the bond amount after hiring a bail bondsman.

“My client isn’t going anywhere,” said Randy Berman, Devignez’ attorney. “He doesn’t speak a lick of English.”

Berman says he’s been using Google Translate to communicate with his client.

Prosecutors tried to convince Judge Krista Marx to ask for a $200,000-bond but Marx refused.

Devignez, a vacationer on a two-week trip to South Florida, could end up stuck here for months while his case goes through the system – if not years if he is convicted on the felony charges of sexual assault and burglary.

Devignez is an apprentice professional rugby player in the club of US Carcassonne in the south of France and recently won the European championship with the Belgian national team. He plays the “prop” position, which is reserved for rugby’s biggest players.

Devignez is accused of raping a 48-year-old woman he met with her roommates at the Ugly Mug July 15 in Delray Beach. Devignez eventually ended up at the woman’s house, at the pool with the male roommates. He eventually slipped out of the pool area and went into the woman’s bedroom and allegedly assaulted her.

According to the police report – click here to read it, but mind the GRAPHIC CONTENT — Devignez told cops he was so drunk he couldn’t tell which of the woman’s body part he used in the rape! He told cops he believed the woman was a prostitute.

Devignez is due back in court August 15.

The only good thing to come out of Belgium (other than Jose of course) ;) is Fabric Nationale d’Herstal. As far as the people I met while there touring the FN plant…they didn’t seem violent rapists.
