It’s unclear if Lopicola will be able to pay and get out of the county lockup in West Palm Beach because he appears to have little money. He needs to pony up at least $13,000 cash to a bail bondsman to be let out.
Lopicola was a weatherman at the NBC affiliate for a decade before he mysteriously quit in 2006. He lost his West Palm Beach home to foreclosure in 2007 and filed for personal bankruptcy after starting a personal trainer business.
He moved to Broward County last year and became a bartender and occasional exotic dancer in a gay strip bar.
Judge Krista Marx assigned a public defender to Lopicola’s defense because he has argued that he doesn’t have the money for a private attorney.
Lopicola, 42, was arrested Monday in Wilton Manors and charged with four felony counts stemming from his relationship with a 15-year-old Boca Raton boy in 2010 and a 17-year-old West Palm Beach high school track star in 2010 and 20111.
He met the teens while cruising the men-seeking-men ads on Craigslist.
