Tyco Boss Charged With Battery
Posted by Jose Lambiet , July 5, 2012 Print
Mark Edoff, chief financial officer at the Boca Raton-based Tyco Security Solutions and ADT Worldwide, plans on pleading not guilty to battery next week.
The high-ranking executive, 54, is accused of shoving a 14-year-old student at Carver Middle School in Delray Beach, where his daughter is enrolled.
The South Florida Business Journal reports the alleged incident happened in November but Palm Beach County State Attorney Peter Antonacci’s office just started pursuing the case.

Edoff thought he saw the alleged victim take another student’s book bag when he dropped off his daughter at school, sparking the incident, according to a police report. Edoff allegedly confronted two male students using profanity, and shoved one of them. Another student ran to the principal’s office to alert school administrators, who notified authorities.
The alleged victim told cops he had permission to get candy from the girl’s bag.
Said West Palm Beach lawyer Scott Suskauer, Edoff’s attorney: “He tried to help out a girl he felt was being victimized.”
It’s not the first time that an executive at the world leader in electronic security has been charged with a crime.
Dennis Kozlowski, a former CEO, was convicted in 2005 of misappropriating more than $400 million of Tyco’s corporate funds. He was just released from prison after serving seven years.

This is behavior one might expect from a drunken landscaper, not an executive at a big company. I guess no one is immune from impulse control issues, but going after a KID? Despicable.
