Six hundred and thirty five, to be exact.

That’s how many different kinds of wine the 600-plus guests were offered for sampling!

Oh, yes: There was star chef Emeril Lagasse who, BAM!, whipped up the main course of a four course meal on stage; and Alan Kalter, the red-headed announcer of CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman, who emceed.

What did Emeril make? Roasted filet mignon with Gulf blue crab, local mushroom fondue on a bed of spring field peas with a truffle sauce.

Best of all: Proceeds, 300 bucks a head, are going to the Diabetes Research Institute and the Golden Bell Education Foundation.
