John Goodman’s Legal Eagle Uses Gossip Extra in Goodman’s New Trial Request

Unlike a certain newspaper, Roy Black credits Gossip Extra properly in his motion for a new trial for DUI killer John Goodman

Roy Black, Wellington polo mogul John Goodman‘s high-priced attorney, is using Gossip Extra to illustrate the circus-like atmosphere surrounding Goodman’s trial for DUI manslaughter last month in West Palm Beach.

Goodman was convicted of killing motorist Scott Wilson by a six-person jury, but Black now says Goodman deserves a new trial.

In the second page of his 300-page argument for a new trial, Black berates Judge Jeff Colbath for refusing a change of venue to, say, Miami — where Black is a revered figure of the bar association.

And to accentuate his point that jurors couldn’t be unbiased, Black pulled out a photo that ran in Gossip Extra during jury selection and showing protester Jim Whelan across the street from the courthouse.

Says Whelan: “What I did is legal. And it doesn’t justify a change of venue!”

Goodman is facing 30 years in the slammer when he is sentenced April 30.

    My nursing contacts at the jail tell me that JG is a 100% mess of a man. His crying and whining about those people, meaning some of Riviera’s Beach finest citizens, that are his new peers are taking a toll on the staff. Plan on him moving into Gen Pop sooner than later. he is absolutely devastated in having to wait until APR 30 for sent. He is under the fantasy that the judge will grant him time served and then home detention. Seeing Mr Wilsons face after the verdict, I am betting on a a full sentence.

    ….your nursing sources are 100% wrong. As are the rest of your misguided assumptions. Mr. Wilson appears a reasonable man. If for no other reason than he seems to have severed ties/not speak with that nutjob Lili at all.

    Your nursing contacts? Sorry ~ I agree that they are also 100% wrong. I can also tell you that you are making up this story and have no nursing contacts there. Because the people that John Goodman are surrounded by know exactly how nice and polite he is. They have nothing but kind words to say about him. And Mr. Wilson was smart to divorce Mrs. Wilson from what I have heard.
