Memo to retired Miami slugger Jose Canseco: Al Gore is not dead!

Actually, Bill Clinton‘s former vice president is just fine!

Now, you have to wonder about Canseco!

Let me explain. In retirement after being kicked out of the Mexican league for refusing a drug test, Canseco has become somewhat of a Twitter philosopher.

Nearly 500,000 fans await his daily tweets of wisdom.

Sometimes, he doesn’t have his facts just so.

Recently, Canseco – whose parting present with Major League Baseball was a book about steroid use – engaged the followers he affectionately calls “morons” and “clowns” into a debate about global warming.

Bemoaning the death of polar bears, Canseco castigated his “clowns” for wasting resources. “1 more stop global warming tip,” the slugger tweeted, “turn your home heat all off at nite 2 saves $ and energy and lower your body temp so u will live 20% longer.”

And then, this pearl: “Al Gore was a head of his time. I miss him. Rest in peace buddy. Hugs 4 u”

There was a correction 15 minutes later: “Sorry Al. You need to make some more noise. Keep fighting for us. I believe in you and I am with you.”
