John Goodman, O.J. Simpson and Levi Johnston: The Morning Buzz

The stories making noise in South Florida this a.m.:

– The civil lawsuit brought by his victim’s family against jailed Wellington polo mogul John Goodman was quietly dismissed Friday, according to Palm Beach County court papers. The move shows a settlement was reached with the family of 23-year-old Scott Wilson, the motorist killed by Goodman in February 2010. No amount of money is mentioned and lawyers are bound by a confidentiality agreement. But an insider tells Gossip Extra that the record figure of $50 million was discussed! The timing of the settlement, before the sentencing, indicates that Wilson’s mother, Lili, and father, William, could ask the judge for a low prison sentence for Goodman. He is facing up to 30 years in prison at his April 30 sentencing. Goodman was  found guilty of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide last months after a nationally-covered trial.

– A private investigator who re-examined the double-murder case against football great O.J. Simpson claims in a new book that Simpson’s son Jason, not The Juice, killed Simpson’s wife and a friend in 1994 in Los Angeles. In O.J. Is Innocent and I Can Prove It, hitting the stores today, P.I. William C. Dear claims O.J. knew all along his son stabbed the victims but went through trial in an attempt to deflect the attention from Jason. Now 41 and a chef in a Miami restaurant, Jason Simpson had the size, 5 feet 11 and 230 pounds, to kill the victim. And in 1994, he was on probation for assaulting an employer with a knife. Dear claims Jason suffered from uncontrollable rage. O.J., also a Miami resident, is currently serving a 33-year sentence in Nevada for kidnapping and robbery.

– Finally, in the are-you-kidding-me category: Wasilla, Alaska sperminator Levi Johnston, who famously knocked up vice presidential wannabe Sarah Palin‘s daughter Bristol then was paraded before family values Republicans during the 2008 presidential election like nothing happened, has done it again! Johnston is believed to be the daddy of another baby out of wedlock in tiny Wasilla. The baby is expected to be born by year’s end to a 20-year-old Wasilla school teacher.
