The stories making noise in South Florida this a.m.:

– The two women in whom New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow has expressed some interest might have to duke it out for more of his attention on the golf course! Tebow’s reps have invited singer Taylor Swift and Glee actress Dianna Agron to play in the Tim Tebow Foundation‘s Celebrity Golf Classic April 14 in Ponte Vedra’s TPC Sawgrass. Tebow has reportedly been smitten with Agron, who just broke up with boyfriend actor Sebastian Stan (Captain America). As for Swift, she was spotted with Tebow in L.A. during Oscars weekend. Even if neither woman shows up in north Florida for the event, the list of those committed is nothing to sneeze at: Limp Bizkit frontman Fred DurstRascal Flatts, NFL greats Deion Sanders and Emmitt Smith, former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks, Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer, Tebow’s old coach at the UF, and more . . . – WPLG-Channel 10 anchor Calvin Hughes should watch more what he says while in Cuba to cover the visit of Pope Benedict XVI. The fact that Hughes called the 40-minute flight to Havana “grueling” and “arduous” sounded ridiculous enough. But what Hughes said during Friday’s live shot at 11p.m. with co-anchor Jen Herrera took the cake: “The mojitos are waiting for us somewhere and I’m ready to throw them back,” Hughes said. Hughes must see the island the way Americans did in the 1950s, which is what threw the populace into the arms of dictator Fidel Castro! A TV veteran told the Miami blog Random Pixels: ”One of the most disgusting and disrespectful things I’ve ever heard anyone say on the air. He’s in Cuba to cover an important story and all he’s got on his mind is getting off the air and throwing back mojitos.” (Click here for more from Random Pixels)

– Another sign that the economic crisis may be behind us: Attendance and sales soared at this weekend’s 27th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show! Organizers said they sold 12 percent more tickets in the first two days of the event than last year and expected the number of visitors would reach 50,000! More boats were shown than ever before with the addition of 40 slips downtown West Palm Beach and long time exhibitors said they sold more boats than over the past three years although final tallies are not available. Visitors, meanwhile, particularly enjoyed Palm Beach Gardens businessman John Staluppi‘s 200-foot Diamonds Are Forever yacht, with its own gym, beauty parlor and sauna. Tim Tebow Parody (Jet’s Song from West Side Story) which I wrote & performed might be suitable for Tebow’s introduction by the NY Jets.
