Dwayne Johnson Buys South Florida Rock Pile From Miami Dolphins Star!

Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, plunked down a cool $3.45 million Feb. 27 for a gorgeous new mansion in the fancy Broward County town of Southwest Ranches, Gossip Extra has learned.

County records show Johnson swiped the 2.2-acre property and the 13,670-square-foot house at 16875 Stratford Court, Landmark Ranch Estates, through a Los Angeles trust fund headed by Howard Altman, one of The Rock’s business partners.

Altman also filed power-of-attorney papers on behalf of Johnson that allowed him to sign for a $2 million-mortgage from PNC Bank.

The house boasts six bedrooms and eight bathrooms as well as a movie theater in which part-time wrestler Johnson will be able to watch his hits, including Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, Tooth Fairy and Family Guy.

Built in 2009, the house was barely occupied by original owner, who’s none other than Miami Dolphins tackle Vernon Carey. Carey lost good money on the sale. Records show he bought it for $3.7 million

Johnson, a University of Miami grad and former Hurricane football player, has kept several homes in the area since his college days. But last year, Gossip Extra revealed how Johnson unloaded all of his South Florida properties, fueling the speculation he was moving to Tinseltown for good.

Southwest Ranches is a mostly rural community of about 7,000 residents in the southwest corner of Broward County. Residents mostly seek peace and a postaral setting helped with a cast-in-stone rule that lots be at least one acre.

The property will set Johnson back $60,000-a-year in taxes.

  Why not? I’m sure it’s a great place for celebs to live, ones that want to be able to come home and not have to deal with crazy people and paparazzi’s everywhere. There’s not a lot of people around there so I’m sure it’s peaceful.
