Rocker Dave Matthews to Highlight Everglades Foundation Ball

Rock superstar Dave Matthews is scheduled to highlight the Feb. 17 Everglades Foundation gala at The Breakers in Palm Beach.
The raspy-voiced frontman of the Dave Matthews Band, whose big tunes include Don’t Drink The Water, is known as a environmental activist who performs, often free of charge, at fundraisers for land- and water-conservation causes.

Despite the fact that the Foundation is based near Miami and has few Palm Beach ties, its yearly fundraisers have become the biggest rendezvous of the Palm Beach social season.
Not only do they routinely pack in excess of 800 people who each paid $1,000 to be there, the shindigs always feature major environment-worried celebrities, including country musician Kenny Chesney, Jimmy Buffett and Sting.
Also expected on Feb. 17: Surfing champ Kelly Slater, a Florida native and honorary gala chairman; and the morning crew of MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, will emcee.
