Sheriff Ric Bradshaw to Dave Aronberg: Don’t Run For State Attorney!

Former State Sen. Dave Aronberg was summoned to a meeting by Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw recently and was asked nicely, but firmly, not to run for State Attorney!

The drum beat, however, is getting louder that Aronberg will announce his candidacy within the next couple of weeks!

Rookie State Attorney Michael McAuliffe, who’s running for his first re-election, has been campaigning and raising money for most of last year. And Bradshaw and McAuliffe have been attached at the hip like Batman and Robin, with Bradshaw’s agency even funding the salaries of several prosecutors at McAuliffe’s office.

Both Aronberg and McAuliffe are democrats and would be opposed in primaries. Republicans have yet to present a candidate.

I’m told by an insider that Bradshaw’s meeting took place in a Starbucks near PBSO headquarters on Gun Club Road.

“The sheriff’s message was clear,” said the source, who asked not to be named. “He asked Dave to run for something else. As far as the sheriff is concerned, McAuliffe’s the cat’s meow.”

Aronberg reportedly didn’t confirm he’s running but told the sheriff he’s “got to do what he’s got to do.”

Bradshaw doesn’t talk to Gossip Extra. Aronberg acknowledged a meeting but only said: “I respect the sheriff’s opinion in everything.”

The office of State Attorney represents the citizens in criminal trials.

Dave has my vote. He’s a good man with experience. I know him personally McAuliffe and Bradshaw both need to go. We need change as well as fiscal responsibility.

Great. First we have the state attorney threatening a public employee over who she talks to and now the sheriff is going to decide who runs for what public office. No wonder we’re known as corruption county!

Go ahead and run Dave. You’ve got my vote.

Aronberg is a typical politician. Jumping from one position to another. That is not what PBC needs. State Attorney McAuliffe has been doing a great job on fighting gangs and pill mills. McAuliffe has my support.
