Michael Jordan’s Airs Annoy New Neighbors — And His Digs Are Still Under Construction

Michael Jordan is a year away from moving into his new Jupiter home and his neighbors are already up in arms!
A source inside the ultra-exclusive The Bears Club, a golf development built by the legendary Jack Nicklaus, tells Gossip Extra that the 6-time NBA champ isn’t following proper etiquette on the development’s pristine course.

Jordan is building a 37,000-square-foot place at the Club. Contractors are about to install the electrical system and his Airness could be landing at the $8-million homestead by the end of 2012.

Thing is, some people aren’t looking forward to it.
“I don’t know which is worse,” the source said. “The half-smoked cigars in the grass or the fact he rarely plays without a posse. I’ve seen him out there with 10 people and they’re hooting and hollering. The point of living in this place is that it’s quiet. The residents are seething but there isn’t much they can do about it.
Said Estee Portnoy, Jordan’s spokeswoman: “I’m sure that’s one man’s opinion. Michael is a true gentleman. He is looking forward to being a resident of the The Bears Club and abiding by the rules. Tell the residents not to worry!”

as an african american of whom moved to southern ga., from south florida-i can relate to the neighbors. in the past year a family w/43 grand kids moved next door and i’ve had to call the police 6 times. i’m now considering legal redress, to obtain a privacy fence, security fence, security doors, and upgrade my alarm system. at the next level have them, their landlord, & the city buy my home….

education and manners. (I thank God, that i came out right). I can’t say for sure if Jordan is disrupting the peaceful neighborhood but if he is he needs a slap to the forehead. A good community is a priviledge, not a right.

Why don’t people just come out and really say why they don’t want MJ living there? The average person living in Jupiter, Fl is white, wealthy and Jewish. What a shame that no one along the way taught MJ to be a good considerate neightbor. This is not about race. It is about civility, and following the rules of a gentleman’s game. Give these “inconsiderate behaviors” any excuse you want to justify their appropriateness, however, those with proper upbringing who want to set a “positive example” for future generations know otherwise – regardless of race or any other justification. Just think of how your parents ranted about the bad behaviors of the younger generation — Does MJ really set an example for future generations to emulate? I think not. Only those spinning downward in the cicility arena think so – not those that want to see world as a better kinder place for mankind. Shame on MJ – if it is true. He was once one of my idols. He has let himself down as much as his fan follwers.

Since we’ve only heard one side of the story, we have no way of knowing the accuracy of the statements. Assuming they are true, however, may I suggest installing ashtrays in the golf carts or have them along the golf course (even numbered holes, for example, or if that’s too many, perhaps the 9th and 18th holes. I would guess that IF the cigar butts are being thrown in the grass, it’s because they are no ashtrays readily available. Now, as far as the “posse” is concerned—first of all, why are his friends referred to as posse??? Whether these are family members, friends or business associates, it shouldn’t bother the neighbors for him to have them join him on the course. As far as “hooting and hollering”—isn’t that what golfers/fans do following great shots? At least, that’s what they do in the PGA and no one seems to have a problem with it. Maybe, we should consider the source and the intent of the persons making the complaints.

I repeat; it all goes to the subject of whether this individual is being considerate or not. Why should a golf course go to extra effort and expense to accomodate this person who seems rather arrogant for failing to dispose his trash properly? MJ could carry his own makeshift ashtry of some sort. And … no one is complaining about noise at tourment play .. this noise and audience that occurs during a routine round of play. Go and read the International Rules of Golf … noise is to be kept to a minimum on any USPGA course. The neighbors and fellow players have a right to express dissatisfaction about the rucus any individual is causing that is disruptive. Note: No one is saying MJ is not welcome to play rather they are saying they expect MJ like other club members to follow proper decurum and rules of conduct on the Club course. Plain and simple.

Jupiter exists because there’s no room in Palm Beach or Hobe Sound for those who wish to be part of that particular local culture. Michael Jordan has the money to be there, but not the upbringing, and especially not the manners. When my father observed the sometimes bizarre behaviors of lower class people, obviously outside of their realms, he would chuckle, and feeling a bit sorry for them, say “They just don’t know any better.” The ladies at the Hobe Sound Country Club take the wives of new neighbors to lunch, and when they conclude that the newcomer won’t fit in and would be better off back where she came from, they send a her a pink sweater! Jordan may become a member of the Bears Den by virtue of his new home on the property, but he will never BELONG there. After all, he’s just a negro with a lot of money. This all reminds me of when “Mr. T.” bought a house among the lovely, old, wooded estates in Lake Forrest, Illinois, and chopped all the trees down so folks could see the size of his mansion!

Nice pad, im not sure with that much land how anyone can be close enough to hear him and his boys, but ninjas are known for making a bunch of noise wherever we go.
