Ziff: I’m not taking Dolores’ name off Arsht Hall!

UPDATE: Two days after Gossip Extra broke the news that philanthropist Sanford Ziff was considering to wipe his dead wife’s name on non-profits that bear both their names, and replaced it with the name of his current wife of three months, Baroness Beatrice Clancy, Ziff has reversed course.
So, the Arsht Center’s Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House downtown Miami is safe for now, if you believe Ziff’s longtime attorney, Albert Caruana.
Here’s the statement he just emailed me:
“I represent Dr. Sanford Ziff.
Regarding recent articles . . . , I am authorized to inform you that our client, Dr. Sanford Ziff, has taken no steps to change the naming rights on any of the recipients of his generous philanthropic contributions, including the ARSHT CENTER, and he does not intend to do so at this time.”
I called Caruana, and he added this: “Dr. Ziff is an 86-year-old gentleman, and he didn’t mean to upset anyone.”
